drug abuse and addiction

drug abuse and addiction remains one of the worlds greatest problems. People are being hooked in greater numbers and at younger ages than ever before. We live in a materialistic throw away society that doesn’t provide enough nurturing or encourage responsibility for ones actions. Health budgets and care institutions continue to be stretched to breaking point and still the problem worsens. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. We now have more addicts but we also have more and better trained carers. As well we know more about the mechanics of addiction than before and we have more modalities, treatments and medicines to combat them.

When it comes to dug abuse and its eradication I am reminded of one of Dr Phils sayings -  when a friend or family member is suffering from drug abuse, you fight it…….. until.

You fight it…….. until.

In other words, you do whatever you have to do , for as long as you have to do it.

And you categorically do not trust the ill person. You cannot afford to trust them as their life probably hangs in the balance. There can be no half measures as the grip of drugs is far to strong. You need to throw everything at the problem and seek the finest help available and you must not delay getting that person the help.
